MIGRAIN: Audience Theory 2

1. Media is not entirely responsible for anti-social behaviour and violence. Over time, more and more people, particularly children and teenagers, have become more and more dependent on media, it is becoming a natural part of our everyday life. Even though media allows people to connect with each other, enjoy common interests and overall make some aspects of our life, there is no denying that some media can influence a person's socialness as well as possibly incite violent behaviour. Some people may agree with this due to the increasing realistic quality of media that more and more people have become addicted and as a result anti-social, however, at the same time, some people use media to escape their harsh reality as it may provide escapism for them and just give them time to forget about their life. 2. Yes, as if a child sees someone do tasks repeatedly, they are more likely to mimic these acts as they become more reinforced in the child's mind. 3. The Tide Pod challenge from

MIGRAIN: Audience theory 1

The Hypodermic Needle Model 1. The article links to the hypodermic needle model as it basically says that those who play violent video games just absorb the violence and the brutality of it and act upon it. 2.  The front page mentions unnecessary information such as the mother of the child being a single mother. This may make people believe that the child paralysed the phone giant due to "neglect" because he is the child of a single mother. 3. Audiences don't believe everything in the media, however what they do believe can be influenced by external factors i.e., currents trends, peers, family, social groups. Two-step flow model 1. How badly someone influenced by the media is dependent on social leaders' views and opinions on that media. A social leader is someone who mediates how the audience react to media. 2. She is a well-known celebrity who makes opinions on specific media content, which makes her an opinion leader. Not only this, she also has a large following,

MIGRAIN: Narrative

1. Marvel Avengers 2. Where It All Started | The First Scene From The Boys Season 1 | Prime Video - YouTube At the start of The Boys, it shows us one of the main characters (Hughie) with his girlfriend (Robin) and then her after being ran into by a man with super speed. This shows us that this is going to be a superhero related movie. Later in this episode, we discover that the man was a superhero and how they are corrupted. This event acts as a catalyst for Hughie's character development as it foreshadows his descent into the darkness as he tries to get revenge. This series starts in disequilibrium as it starts in a corrupted place where those who are in power rule and anyone who doesn't have power either believes whats been shown to them or ends up dead as collateral as seen with Robin 3. Harry Potter from Harry Potter, James Bond in Mission Impossible, and Batman in The Dark Knight 4. Light vs Darkness 5. When a Policeman catches a criminal, the idea of justice is reinforced

Genre: Factsheets and genre study questions

Genre Factsheets 1. " Sometimes, however, the iconographies work together to  indicate the genre. Someone sitting behind a desk is not genre  specific. However, add high key lighting, a modern mise en scene  and a screen behind the character at the desk and the combination  of media language choices creates an image we associate with a  news broadcast." 2.  "In a  soap opera  it wouldn't be unusual to see one of the story lines follow a family having trouble with their boss at work. This type of story may also appear in a   sit com  but the way the story develops and is dealt with will be different. In a  soap opera , the situation may be shown in a serious way and the boss could be represented as a  villain   and act  in a very abusive manner.  Sit-coms tend to be episodic narratives whilst the soap opera convention is to use an open ended, multi strand narrative structure." 3. The action hero is often an individual who fights villain(s) that has equal or more

MIGRAIN: Reading an image - media codes

Image
RBK 50 Cent Advert: Technical Codes The close up shot of 50 Cent as well as the way the lighting is presented allows us to focus on his facial features, in particular, the eyes, mouth, nose and eyes. Written or Verbal Codes The writing talks about 50 Cent's past and how you should live life like there is not tomorrow as tomorrow never guaranteed. Symbolic or Non-Verbal Codes The clothes that 50 Cent wears can be used to represent his past. His seriousness works with the writing on the right side of the image. The darkness can be used to represent mystery about 50 Cent and his past Enigma codes are used with the fingerprints which can be used to show that 50 Cent had a trouble with the police Action codes are used with the quote which can show that something bad is going to happen whether it be now or later.
